School Day Enrichment
The PTA is proud to provide both organizational and financial support to these activities that take place in school during regular school hours.
Artist in Residence: This annual program brings in a visual artist who works with all of the students during their regularly scheduled art class and teaches them a new medium of art with the final result being a project to be left for future generations at Beverly Farms Elementary School. Some of our past projects have been a Calder-style sculpture, a bronze eagle, murals, stained-glass windows, portraits of grandparents, collaged chairs, and many more.
Author in Residence: This program brings a published children's author or illustrator to the children to teach them what it takes to write and publish a book. Groups made up of two grades at a time meet with the author for a presentation during which the author goes through the writing process with the children. The author's book is usually available to borrow from the library or to purchase and have signed by the author for your own collection.
Cultural Arts: This program brings artists of various genres, such as storytellers, dancers, and musicians, for school-wide assemblies a few times during the school year. A few of the many past performances include: Robert Kikuchi-Yngojo (Asia FantAsia), Barynya (From Russia with Music, Dance, and lots of Love), and the Fabulous Chinese Acrobats (Amazing Acts of Balance and Strength.
Poet in Residence: Part of 5th Grade enrichment, these students delve into poetry by creating their own pieces which are then performed before parents and 4th grade students.
Reflections: This national PTA program offers students the opportunity to create works of art for fun and recognition in the following categories: dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography, and visual arts. This year’s theme is “Diversity Means…”. Review complete package of instructions.
